Marjorie Joyce Ross Butterworth

December 14, 1930 — April 11, 2021

Joyce Butterworth, 90, of Prince George, Virginia, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 11, 2021. She was born in Southwestern Virginia, daughter of the late Howard Taggart and Laura Alice Farmer. She was predeceased by her husbands, Charles Henry Ross, MD and Howard Carlton Butterworth and her youngest son, Timothy Wayne Ross. She is survived by two sons, Charles Henry Ross, Jr., wife Shantel and David Brent Ross, wife Betsy; eight grandchildren Brent Ross, Sarah Northrop, Laura Birofka, Wayne Ross, Meredith Adams, Bryan Ross, Charlie Ross, and Ryan Ross; and fourteen great-grandchildren. For most of Joyce’s life, she enjoyed being a mother and housewife. She briefly worked as a secretary in Prince George County. Most important to Joyce was her family. She cherished the holidays when her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren gathered together at her home. She was an animal lover and left behind her beloved Boston terrier, Bingo. Joyce was a giving, loving, and kind person that will greatly be missed. A graveside service will be held at Appomattox Cemetery in Hopewell, Virginia, at 2:00 PM on Saturday, April 17, 2021.
