Mark Linwood Henshaw

M. Linwood Henshaw, 88, of Church Road, passed away on Monday, June 4, 2018. Born in Petersburg, he was the son of the late Mark Luther Henshaw and Elsie Aliff Henshaw. He was preceded in death by a sister, Lorraine Horning; and a brother, Nelson Gene Henshaw. Linwood is survived by his wife, Alicia Henshaw; children, Sonya Henshaw, Lin Mark Henshaw (Donna Marie), Larry Linwood Henshaw (Judith), Lynette Henshaw Batton and Linda Henshaw Lydecker (Dale); grandchildren, Caroline Lydecker Brennan, Larry Linwood Henshaw, II., Courtney Lydecker Case, Berkley Anne Henshaw and Zacheus Mark Henshaw; great-grandchildren, Landon Brennan and Brody Brennan; Linwood is also survived by siblings, Gilbert Henshaw, Horace Henshaw, David Henshaw, Phillip Henshaw, Raymond Henshaw, Donald Henshaw, Juanita Turner, Gloria Heath and Carolyn Henshaw; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Linwood was an avid fisherman and he enjoyed traveling, especially to Mexico. He had a strong passion for work and loved doing it. He served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps. He then went on to work 20 years in various rock quarries in Virginia and North Carolina. He later picked up the family trade and worked many years until his death as an independent building contractor and land developer in Virginia. Linwood was known for his love and affection for people. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, June 8, 2018 at the Dinwiddie Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 9, 2018 at the funeral home. Interment will follow at the Henshaw Family Cemetery, 15109 Davis Road, Church Road, VA.
