Mark Louis Zikes

Mark L. Zikes, 61, of Prince George, Virginia, died unexpectedly on June 10, 2023. Mark was preceded in death by his father, Ernest R. "Bud" Zikes, Jr.; stepfather, Jimmie R. Johnson; and grandparents, Ernest R. Zikes, Sr. and Anna B. Zikes.
Mark served proudly in the United States Marines in Beirut, Lebanon, and throughout Europe with NATO. For many years, Mark was with the Burrowsville Volunteer Fire Department. Mark was also known as "Big Mark" or "Stick Man." Mark was a mechanic by trade. He loved mud bog racing and had recently installed an engine in his mud bog truck.
Mark is survived by his mother, LaWanda V. Johnson; sister, Cheryl Sebera (Dennis); brother, Ernest "Skip" Zikes III (Gillian); fiancé, Phyllis Vargo Davis, and her daughter, Jami Davis; nephews, Collin "Sonny" Elmore III, Ernest Zikes IV, and Ryan Zikes; nieces, Jaclyn Campbell and Lauren Black; and many other nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am, on Thursday, June 15, 2023, at J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home - Hopewell Chapel. The family will receive friends one hour prior. Interment will follow at Merchants Hope Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Burrowsville Volunteer Fire Department.
