Markell Robert Godfrey, Jr.

Markell “Kellz” Robert Godfrey, Jr., 27, of Philadelphia, TN and formerly of Dinwiddie and Prince George, VA passed away on Friday, November 16, 2018. Born in Hopewell, VA he was preceded in death by his grandmother, Patsy Despencer; grandfathers, Elliott Godfrey and Lee Miller; great-grandparents, Graham and Ertie West; and two uncles, Robert Miller and Clifford Godfrey. Markell previously attended Dinwiddie and Prince George County High Schools and was the 2nd shift supervisor for JTEKT where he was a machine operator, building precision car parts. Kellz loved the outdoors, especially, fishing, hiking and kayaking. He enjoyed working out and playing video games. Markell was a beloved brother and friend who will be greatly missed by many people. Tim, know how much he loved you and you will always be his brother. Stacy, words can’t express the gratitude we have for you and taking Markell into your home and loving and caring for him. Markell is survived by his mother, Leigh Ann Johnson and husband, Adam; his father, Mark Godfrey and wife, Carrie; sisters, Ashley Wilson and husband, John and Jessica Fine; brothers, Brian Fine, Justin Fine, Matthew and Zackary Godfrey and his brother by choice, Tim Scholl; his grandmother, Jean Godfrey; grandfather, Wayne Johnson and wife, Rae; and many uncles, aunts, cousins and extended family and friends. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 24, 2018 at the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Centralia Cemetery, Chester, VA.
