Marsha Elaine Treece Hester, of Petersburg and Fries, VA entered heaven’s gates on October 16, 2017 in Winston-Salem, NC. She was born in Herrin, IL on May 1, 1947, and was the daughter of the late, Ernest and Mary Treece. She was also preceded in death by her brother in law, Bob Dawson. Marsha was a retired licensed real estate appraiser and former member of The Appraisal Institute. She was currently serving on the Governor’s Advisory Board for the Blind and Disabled, a cause dear to her heart. Marsha was a long time and faithful member of Matoaca Christian Fellowship Church where she willingly served in any capacity that furthered the gospel of Jesus Christ. She was known and loved for her ability to teach, mentor and encourage women in biblical principles. She loved her hometown of Herrin, IL and remained close to many of her childhood and school friends, returning regularly for reunion and birthday celebrations. She was nicknamed “Marsha Stewart” by family members because she loved to organize and hold gatherings of friends and family for any occasion. “At the end of our days, let love be a description of our life.” Marsha was a true example of the godly woman described by Solomon in Proverbs 31:10-31. She lovingly cared for her husband, children and family, adopted every child as her own, and dispersed perfectly timed wisdom. She was obedient and blessed of God and in turn blessed everyone who knew her. Marsha is survived by her loving husband, James D. Hester of Petersburg and Fries, VA; children, Raymond Douglas Hester and Sara Ashley Hester, both of Petersburg, VA; grandson, Caden Ashton Ray Hester of Prince George, VA; siblings, Vicki Dawson of Herrin, IL, Val Gene Treece (Sherry) of Cape Girardeau, MO, and Mary Beth Hill (Scott) of Herrin, IL; nieces, Heather Morrow (David) of Herrin, IL, Haley Smith (Jereme) of Jackson, TN; nephews, Shawn Dawson (Kristie) of Sullivan, IL, Damon Hill (Chriesha) of Herrin, IL, Jonathon Hill (Courtney) of Bloomington, IN, Scott Dawson (Jennifer) of Herrin, IL; great nieces and nephews, Ramona and Mallory Dawson, Megan Zarle (Jake), MeKenzie and Maitland Morrow, Eden, Callie, and Emma Smith, Brenden and Kristen Beasley, Benjamin Hill, Micaiah and Reece Hill, Nathan (Brittney) and Brandon Dawson; many dear cousins and other beloved relatives. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, October 28, 2017 at Matoaca Christian Fellowship Church 7700 River Road Matoaca, VA, with her pastor Ryan Atchison officiating.
