Martha Loving Alexander, 82, passed away on the morning of Tuesday, December 13, 2011, after a period of declining health. She was born on October 30, 1929 in Lynchburg, VA, and was the only child of S. Loving and Thelma Oâ??Brien Loving. Mrs. Alexander was married for 50 years to Dr. William H. Alexander who passed away on March 22, 2001. She was the office manager and dental assistant to her husband for many years until they both retired in the mid 1990â??s. Mrs. Alexander is survived by her cousin, Betty Carson of Richmond, VA; five nieces, Barbara Gilbert and her husband Chuck of Monkton, MD, Margaret A. Schulze and her husband Robert of Durant, OK, Dora L. Pontow and her husband William of St. Francis, WI, Mary D. Miller and her husband Robert of St. Francis, WI, and Sue Binder and her husband James of Wausau, WI; one nephew, Lee H. Alexander of Lincolnton, GA; plus a loving caregiver, Donna Watson; and Marthaâ??s guardian, Michael L. Mahaney. At the request of Mrs. Alexander there will not be any services, and the burial will be private at Blandford Cemetery in Petersburg, VA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to either the Ted Blanks Scholarship Fund at the John Randolph Foundation, P.O. Box 1606, Hopewell, VA 23860, or to the Virginia State Golf Association Foundation for Robins Junior Golf Program, 600 Founders Bridge Boulevard, Midlothian, VA 23113.
