Martha Bailey

Martha Harrison Bailey, 91, of Chester and formerly of Wakefield, died April 23, 2007. She was a resident of Surry County for more than eighty years and, most recently, a resident of Bon Secours Retirement Community at Ironbridge. She was preceded in death by her husband Ralph Jarman Bailey. She is survived by her son Robert J. Bailey and her daughter-in-law Carol P. Bailey as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was a graduate of what is now Longwood University and taught for more than two decades in schools in Surry and Sussex counties. Services will be held at Rocky Hock United Methodist Church on Wednesday, April 25 at 11:00 a.m. with burial in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Perpetual Care Fund, Rocky Hock United Methodist Church in care of Richard Andrews, 4899 White Marsh Road, Wakefield, VA 23888.
