Martha Ann Sars

Martha (Martie) Ann Sars, 74, of Hopewell, VA, passed peacefully on April 29, 2021. Born on February 22, 1947 in Elkins, WV, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Mary Crawford. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt. Throughout her life she was strong in her faith and active in her church community. She retired from First Tennessee Bank in Cookeville, TN where she was a Branch Manager for over 10 years. She devoted her life to God and to her family. Martie was a kind and gentle soul that loved unconditionally and went out of her way to show the people around her how much she cared about them. She was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years John Edward Sars and her sister Carol Whitt of McKenney, VA.

She is survived by her brothers Gary Crawford and his wife Yvonne of Smoot, WV and Leonard Crawford and his wife Dolly of Santee, SC. Her three children Christina Morales (daughter) and her husband Wayne of Colonial Heights, VA, Vicki Robinson (daughter) and her husband B.J. of Chester, VA, John Sars, Jr. (son) and his wife Michelle of Prince George. Her five grandchildren Taylor Merica of Herndon, VA, Austin Robinson of Chester, VA, Anthony Morales of Colonial Heights, VA, Abbie Sars of Prince George, VA, and Joshua Morales of Colonia Heights, VA. She was also very blessed to have a number of nieces and nephews that loved their “Aunt Martie”. Her “best buddy” was her niece Missy Carrasquillo.
Her most treasured companion for the last 10 years was her 4-legged child Sassy. Through thick and thin Sassy was by her side every day.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 5, 2021 at the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Merchants Hope Cemetery.

The family will hold a visitation for family from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday 5/4/21 and the family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10am to 11am on Wednesday 5/5/21.
