Martha Bell Tate

Martha Bell Tate, 69, of Hopewell, VA, passed away on Thursday, February 9, 2023. Born in Ft. Benning, Georgia, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Merle Bell; and was also preceded in death by two sisters, Marie Hahne and Evelyn Brinkley; and one brother, Jimmy Chapman. Mrs. Tate will be remembered by her family as a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She is survived by her loving husband of 44 years, Larry Tate; one son, Chris Tate and wife, Amanda; two grandsons, Bryson and Preston Tate; a brother, Raymond Bell; and a sister, Neda Conley. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Tuesday, February 14, 2023, at the Virginia Veterans Cemetery at Amelia, with the Rev. Ryan Atchison, officiating. Family and friends are invited to pay their respects to Martha from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., on Monday, February 13, 2023, at the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. Flowers are appreciated, however contributions may be made to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation, 2361 Hylan Boulevard, Staten Island, NY 10306 or to the Shriners Hospitals for Children, 2900 Rocky Point Drive, Tampa, FL 33607 in memory of Martha B. Tate.
