Martha Garrett Walker

Martha Garrett Walker, 86, of Hopewell, VA, passed away on Monday, March 27, 2023. Born in Chase City, VA, she was the daughter of the late Charles Ivanson and Margaret Bollinger Garrett; and was also preceded in death by her husband, Robert Davis Walker; and her three brothers, Alfred "Pete" Garrett, Charles "Bubba" Garrett and Norman "Sonny" Garrett. Mrs. Walker was a dedicated member of Enon Baptist Church. She spent the majority of her career in the banking field having worked for many different banks. Mrs. Walker will be remembered by her family as a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She is survived by her son, Brent Walker (Laurie); a daughter, Melissa Browder (Donny, Sr.); one grandson, Tanner Walker Fine; her sister, Susan Garrett Rowsey; and numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 1, 2023 at the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Appomattox Cemetery, Hopewell, VA. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, March 31, 2023 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Enon Baptist Church in memory of Martha Walker.
