Martha Frances Wood

Martha Frances Wood, 85, of Prince George, died Wednesday, October 26, 2016. Born in Dillwyn, VA she was the daughter of the late David Austin and Inez Ola Poe Wootten. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, William Robert Wood and a grandson, William Robert Sweat. Mrs. Wood was a longtime member of Gary’s United Methodist Church. She enjoyed needlework, cooking, vegetable gardening, and canning. She loved her family but especially adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is survived by her daughters, Inez W. Tyrcha and husband, John, and Brenda W. Sweat and husband, Jeff; grandchildren, Johnathan David Tyrcha, and Tiffany D. Ashton and husband, Tim; great-grandchildren, John William Tyrcha, Makayla Grace Ashton, and Gunner James Ashton, numerous cousins, devoted friends and caregivers, Julie Hopkins and Barbara Ridley. A funeral service will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Monday, October 31, 2016 at the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home with the Reverends Michael Bauham and Stuart Wood officiating. Interment will follow at Southlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
