Marvin Rodney Mundy

Marvin Rodney Mundy, of Buchanan, Virginia, passed away on March 2, 2021 after reaching the age of 83 years old. After months of declining health, he died peacefully within his home in Prince George, Virginia with his family by his side. Marvin was born on March 2, 1938 in Buchanan, Virginia to Roy Clinton Mundy and Viola Camper Mundy. He graduated from Buchanan High School. During high school, Marvin loved to play football. In 1958, he married Adalee Higgins Hartbarger. She had one son who Marvin helped to raise, Dennis Hartbarger. As a very young man, Marvin joined the Air Force and became an air traffic controller. He served in the Air Force and travelled the world for eight years. After the military, Marvin worked several jobs and earned his Accounting Degree from VCU. He then began to work with family in the construction business. He became a member of the Carpenter’s Union. He finally started his own company, Crestwood Builders. He built homes in Chesterfield, Dinwiddie, Colonial Heights, and Prince George. He built a home on the James River in Spring Grove, Virginia for he and his wife Adalee. There he enjoyed fishing, boating, riding jet skis and having friends and family to gather for picnics on the beach. He was a grandfather to Dennis’ children, Denise Hartbarger, Robin Germanos, and Doug Hartbarger. He was a great grandfather to Michael Germanos, Konner Hartbarger, and Jake Germanos. His grandchildren and great grandchildren loved him very much. Marvin was a strong, proud and good man. He is loved and will be missed by many. He is preceded in death by his parents, Rodney and Viola Mundy, his sisters Betty Jane Sexton and Mildred Montgomery; his brothers Roy Clinton, Jr. and Harry Bell Mundy. Marvin is survived by his loving wife, Adalee Mundy; stepson Dennis Hartbarger; grandchildren Denise Hartbarger, Robin Germanos, Doug Hartbarger; great grandchildren Michael Germanos, Konner Hartbarger, Jake Germanos; his sister Ruby Matthews; and a host of nieces and nephews, beloved friends, relatives and extended family. A service will be held at 3:00 pm on Saturday, March 13, 2021 at the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. Condolences may be registered online at www.jtmorriss.com .
