Marvin Wilson Warthan, 84, of Disputanta, died Sunday, July 5, 2009 at his residence. He was born in Prince George County. Mr. Warthan was a retired pipe fitter with Allied Chemical Corporation, a member of American Legion, Hopewell Post # 146, Loyal Order of Moose # 1472 and Martins Brandon Episcopal Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur R. and Mary Bishop Warthan and his wife, Delores Jacobs Warthan. Surviving are his sons, Marvin â??Randyâ? R. Warthan and wife, Susan, Mark Wayne Warthan, all of Prince George, Lawrence â??Larryâ? W. Warthan and his wife, Donna of Chester, a daughter, Deborah â??Sissyâ? W. Smith and husband, Johnny of Prince George, eight grandchildren, three great grandchildren and two sisters, Malene W. Bennett of Hopewell and Thelma W. Barfield of Petersburg. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, July 7, 2009 from 7 to 8:30 PM at the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home and Cremation Service. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, July 8, 2009, at 11 AM in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Macon Walton, Rector of Martins Brandon Episcopal Church, officiating.
