LTC(R) MARVLYN "Marv" ROBERT WILDE, 89, of Prince George County, VA, passed away on July 24, 2022. Born in Lemmon, SD, he was the son of the late Emil and Esther Wilde of West Point, NE. He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Joann (Thiele); seven children, Monica Mullen (David), Bill (JoAnn), Mike (Sheila), Rita Jackson, Frances Wargofcak (Charles), Barbara Struth (Raymond), and John (Michelle); 13 grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren.
Marv proudly served his country in the U.S. Army and National Guard during the Korean and Vietnam Wars. At the age of 16, he joined the Wyoming National Guard and in 1951, prior to his 18th birthday, his unit was deployed to Korea. Upon returning from Korea, he was accepted into Officer Candidate School (OCS) and graduated 1 October 1957. Amongst his awards and decorations were the purple heart, four bronze stars, air medal and parachutist badge. Marv retired from the Army in 1974, after 24 years of service.
The youngest of six children, he was the first in his family to earn a college degree. After retiring from the Army, Marv owned his own real estate business for three years, and in 1977, returned to the federal government as a civil servant working at Fort Lee.
Service and burial will be private.
