Mary Elizabeth Dickson Angevine

Mary Elizabeth (Dickson) Angevine, known as Betty, passed away at Dunlop House in Colonial Heights, VA on June 3, 2015. Betty was born in Boston, MA on January 3, 1932 to John Dickson and Mary Sarah (Maxwell) Dickson. She is predeceased by her her husband of 58 years, Lieutenant Colonel (Retired) Robert (Bob) Chalmers Angevine. Betty is survived by their children, Margo Elizabeth Angevine of Titusville, NJ and her husband Miles Ritter; Charles Leon Angevine of Laramie, WY and his wife Judi Diamond; John Robert Angevine of Chester, VA and his wife Catharine Spurlock; granddaughter Megan Elizabeth Angevine of Alexandria, VA and her husband Keith Shovlin; and Great Granddaughters Michelle Ellen Angevine Shovlin and Margo Elenor Angevine Shovlin. She was predeceased by her brother James D. M. Dickson and daughter in-law Dawn Michelle Angevine. She grew up in Brookline, MA, graduating from Brookline High School in 1950 and The Chandler School for Women. Betty and Bob met in 1953 on board the USNS Henry Gibbins en route to Germany where she worked as a secretary for the U.S. Army. They married July 24, 1954 in Heidelberg, Germany. Together they traveled and lived in many places, eventually settling in Falmouth, MA in 1970. In 1990 they retired to Virginia, living in Mathews County, Williamsburg and finally Chester. Betty loved gardening, dachshunds, her family and many friends. She will be interred with her husband at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
