Mary Breeden

Mary Catherine Breeden, 67, of Petersburg, VA, died April 26, 2023. Born in Roanoke, VA, she was the cherished daughter of the late Raymond L. Breeden Jr. and late Evelyn D. Breeden. Mary, or Cathy as her family called her, began her life at her family home until the age of 5 when she came under the care of the State of Virginia. The hardest decision her parents ever made, Cathy moved to Central Virginia Training Center in Lynchburg, VA. There she lived in a beautiful park-like setting where she enjoyed taking walks and having picnics with her family. From there Cathy moved to Southeastern Virginia Training Center to be closer to her family when they moved to Virginia Beach. Cathy needed a better environment in which to live, and she moved to Southside Virginia Training Center where she thrived. It was at Southside and eventually her group home where Cathy truly lived her good life with her Good Neighbor (now Sevita Health) family. She attended day support activities and enjoyed all the wonderful activities that her group home provided. Mary Catherine Breeden is survived by her brother, William L. Breeden and his wife, Tina, of Knotts Island, NC; brother, Jay R. Breeden and his wife, Jennifer, of Ashburn, VA; as well as several nieces, nephews, and an aunt and uncle. A memorial service will be conducted on Tuesday, May 2, 2023, at 1:00 PM, at the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home with Reverend Jim Rogers officiating.
