Mary Brown Burruss, 79, of Petersburg, passed away Sunday, December 5, 2010. A lifelong resident of the city, she was the daughter of the late Carroll Marvin and Edith Tyus Brown. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Douglas Ray Burruss and a brother, Richard A. Brown. Mrs. Burruss is survived by her husband, Lucky D. Burruss, Sr.; her sons, Grover â??Peteâ? Stell and wife, Vivian of Prince George, Lucky D. Burruss, Jr. and wife, Wendi of Holiday, FL, and Jeffrey D. Burruss and Ginger Ferguson of Blackstone; nine grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; brother, Carroll â??Juniorâ? Brown; sister, Viola â??Muttâ? Sturkey and husband, William; and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, December 9th at the Petersburg Chapel of J. T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home & Cremation Service with Dr. Ivan Perkinson officiating. Interment will follow at Blandford Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
