Mary Childress

Mary Sophie Jennings Childress, 86 of Petersburg departed this life on Wednesday, August 20, 2008 at her residence. She was the daughter of the late Gustavius and Mary Pearl Conrad Jennings. She is preceded in death by her husband Harold L. Childress and daughter Carole Ann Hartford Bowman. She is survived by two daughters, A. Loraine Powell of Hopewell and Wanda Hartford Bridgeman of Hanover; seven grandchildren, Sherri Lynn Hoylman, Bruce Wayne Bowman, Jr., Rhonda G. Rusnak, Floyd McNeal Maitland, Jr., William Edward Maitland, Tammy Arlene Maitland and Jamie Lynn Maitland; seventeen great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren; devoted in her heart daughter, Debra Crowder. Graveside services will be conducted 11:00 am Saturday, August 23, 2008 at Southlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Friday, August 22, 2008 from 6-8 pm at the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home & Cremation Service.
