Mary Covington

Mary Lanier Covington, 89, died peacefully at the Petersburg Home for Ladies on January 6, 2012. She was the widow of Oliver Stuart Covington, Sr. She is survived by her son, Oliver Stuart Covington, Jr. and two brothers, Winfield Lanier and Charles Lanier. Also surviving is a grandson, Michael B. Covington and wife Denise, and two great grandchildren, Rachel and Ben. Mary was a well-known hostess whose culinary skills enhanced both business and family affairs. Mary will be missed by family and friends. She livened any group she was in. There are numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other relations who will also miss her. Mary was a member of Christ and Grace Episcopal Church, Petersburg. The Reverend David Teschner will officiate graveside at Southlawn Cemetery on Tuesday, January 10, 2012, at 11:00 a.m. A reception will be held at Christ and Grace immediately after the services.
