Mary Elizabeth Thomas Creggar, 94, of Hopewell widow of Paul H. Cregg, Sr. died Saturday, September 18, 2004. She was born in Northumberland County, VA. a daughter of the late Andrew J. and Sarah Elizabeth Clark Thomas and has lived in the Hopewell area since 1953. She was a member of First United Methodist Church and was a former member of the Chancel Choir. Mary actively participated at the church in the Good Samaritan Circle and Tbursday Spiritual Life Bible Study. She was also a Life Member of the Wonder City Garden Club. She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Nancy and Ira Gesler of Harrisonburg, VA and Faye and Carmen Ragonese of N. Syracuse, NY., three sons and one daughter-in-law, Paul H. Creggar of Colonial Heights Convalescent Center, Walter T. (Tommy) Creggar of Prince George and Glenn R. and Deborah Creggar of Chester. She also has nine grandchildren, Darrell and Emily Gesler, Gary and Sherri Gesler, Melody and Barry McLean, Joy and Brian Benfer, Mark and Erika Ragonese, Shawn and Jennifer Ragonese, Nancy and Ajo John, Megan Creggar and Margy and Gary Chandler, and 17 great-grandchildren. She also leaves two brothers, Paul B. Thomas and Curtis M. Thomas and a host of relatives and friends. The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 pm on Tuesday at First United Methodist Church, Broadway and 6th Street, Hopewell. A funeral service will follow in the church at 6 pm with the pastor Dr. Bill Wash, officiating. At the conclusion of the service, the church will be serving a light supper in the fellowship hall for family and friends. Interment will be private.
