Mary Elizabeth Rieves Hamilton went to be with Jesus, her Savior, on Saturday, March 9, 2024. She was born to James Edward Rieves and Nellie Mae Williams Rieves on September 5, 1943. They are deceased, as is her brother, Thomas Edward "Happy" Rieves. She is survived by a niece and nephew, Rose Mave and Charles Edward Rieves, along with many cousins.
Mary's husband, Robert Lewen Hamilton, went to be with the Lord, on March 12, 1988. She is survived by his aunt, Juanita Surdam and nieces and nephews.
Many church family and friends have upheld her in prayers during her physical difficulties. Having a praying friend means the most when you are in need. Special thanks to all, especially Donna Marie and Dianne.
Mary spent 15 years at W.T. Grant, working as a clerk and went on to store management before they closed in 1976. She was employed at J.C. Penney from March 1, 1976 to January 2004. Mary opened the JCP Home Store in Colonial Heights in September 1997. She leaves many memories with all who worked with her during those years.
Mary's best memories are those of learning to play the piano, teach Sunday School, and having a ladies Bible class at her home. "Nothing has given me greater joy than telling others of the change Jesus has made in my life. He is the answer for every need we have." My body may be gone, but my prayer is for you to know Him and let His word guide you each day.
