Mrs. Mary Ann Fox Jones, age 79, of Chester, VA, passed away on Sunday, June 29, 2014. She was born in Cookeville, TN, the daughter of the late Nathan and Anna Moore Fox. Mary Ann was also preceded by her beloved husband of 52 years, Ret. Lt. Col. Samuel H. Jones. She was involved in Girl Scouts for 27 years, starting as a Brownie, and was a Camp Director in Wurzburg, Germany and Ft. Hunt, VA. Mary Ann was a member of the National Society D.A.R. (Thomas McKissick Chapter, Columbia, TN) and the Defense Supply Center, Richmond Women’s Club since 1972. She also taught school for five years. All of these things were accomplished while moving 11 times with her husband throughout his military career. Her hobbies included knitting, sewing, flower gardening, arranging, arts and crafts, and playing bridge. Mary Ann is survived by a cousin, Nancy Dowell of Oak Ridge, TN; and numerous friends, both locally and abroad, that she made throughout her life. She thanks her many friends and colleagues for their special care in her time of need—especially Brenda and Loris Longest. A visitation will be held in her honor on Wednesday, July 2, 2014 from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at the Chester Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. Funeral services will begin at 1:30 p.m. following the visitation. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Park, Chester.
