Mary Gladys Massey

Mary “Gladys” Massey, 96, of Hopewell passed away on Sunday, August 24, 2014. She is preceded in death by her parents, Sanford B. and Marie A. Frazier; a son, Robert Joseph “Bobby Joe” Massey; loving husband, Robert “Doc” Massey; and two sisters and eight brothers. Gladys was a long-time member of Enon Church of God. Her first job was a Manager at Key Rexall Drug Store. She then became the Manager of the snack bar and candy kitchen at J.M. Fields and eventually ended her employment at South Hopewell Church of God in Childcare. Gladys enjoyed cooking and loved crocheting, which she learned in her time spent at the Hopewell Community Center. Gladys is survived by Brother, Harold Frazier and wife Lois; Daughter-In-Law, Trilla Massey; a Daughter, Belinda M. Lane and husband Ted; Sister-In-Law, Jean Frazier; six Grandchildren, Sherry Michalek and husband Chris, Mark Massey and fiancé Paula Bowne, Jamie Wood and husband Kelly, Tony Lane and girlfriend Lindsay Warren, Kari Lewallen and husband Jeremy and Jeanette Lane; seven Great-Grandchildren, Emily, Meghan and Caleb Michalek, Chad and Hailey Massey, and Dylan and Dustyn Shepard; four Step-Great-Grandchildren, Brandon Bowne and wife Casey, Ethan Bowne, Amber Wood and Sean Wood; Step-Great-Great-Grandchild, Bradley Sinclair and numerous nieces and nephews and other loving extended family and friends. The family will receive friends Monday, August 25, 2014, at the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morriss and Son Funeral Home from 6:00-8:00 P.M. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, August 26, 2014 at Enon Church of God, 900 Enon Church Road, Chester, VA 23836 at 11:00 A.M. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park.
