Mary Moore

Mary Lou Lewis Moore, age 91, a resident of Sussex County, died Thursday, May 17, 2007. Born on February 16, 1916, in Stony Creek, VA, she was the daughter of the late Jesse Lewis and Lucie Roland Lewis. She is survived by a daughter, Rebecca Moore West and her husband, Olen E. West of Sussex, VA; a son, David L. Moore of Dinwiddie; 10 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. Mary Lou was predeceased by her husband, John Richard Moore, Jr.; a son, John Richard Moore III; and a granddaughter, Anita Lynn Moore. Mrs. Moore was a life-long active member of Newville Baptist Church in Waverly. She was a blessing to her family and her community, and showed a gentle loving Christian spirit to everyone. Mary Lou loved to sew and cook, and she was a wonderful provider for her loved ones. Funeral services will be held at Newville Baptist Church, Waverly, on Monday, May 21, 2007 at 2:00 p.m., with Dr. Richard Bendall and Chaplain Paula Ropelenski officiating. The family will receive friends at the Purviance Chapel, J. T. Morriss & Son Funeral Homes, Wakefield on Sunday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Burial will follow in the Newville Baptist Church Cemetery.
