Mary Elizabeth Harris Prince went to be with Jesus on January 25, 2016. Born in Union, SC, she was the daughter of the late Wallace S. and Juanita Nell Sims Harris. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Wallace S. Harris, Jr., a sister, Virginia Harris Wilson, a niece, Carolyn Harris Hanning and a special sister-in-law, Frances Elizabeth (Sis) Johnson. She is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, James W. Prince, Sr.; daughter, Cheryl Ann Martinez and husband, Gary; sons, James W. Prince, Jr. and wife, Ying Wen, and Thomas W. Prince and wife, Rebecca. She was blessed with four granddaughters, Elizabeth Ann Martinez, Emily Scott Martinez, Katie Jo Frances Prince, and Zoey Wang. She is also survived by her loving brother, Ralph P. Harris and niece, Kitsy Robertson, and a special sister and brother-in-law, Ella “Booty” and Walter “Scotty” Waldrop.
Mary attended Clemson University. She lived and worked in Columbia, South Carolina until marrying Airman 1st Class James W. Prince. After marrying, they settled in Virginia and finally moved to the home they built in Sutherland, Virginia. She was a stay at home Mother until going to work as secretary/bookkeeper for her husband at Prince Insurance Agency in 1964.
Mary was a member of Kenwood UMC where she served as a Sunday School Teacher, MYF Leader, Bible School Leader, and faithful member of the Kenwood UM Women’s Group. Upon moving to Sutherland she and her family became members of Ocran UM Church and was a faithful member of their United Methodist Women Group. She loved her church family, the Lord and His Son Jesus Christ and was an avid prayer warrior.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 29, 2016 at Ocran United Methodist Church, Sutherland, VA, followed by interment in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at the church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Ocran United Methodist Church at P.O. Box 309, Sutherland, VA 23885.
