Mary Laine Rawlings

Mary Elizabeth Laine Rawlings, “Mary Liz”, died peacefully at her home surrounded by her family on September 18, 2016. Mary was born on April 20, 1929, in Newport News, VA., to Willie Tom Bell and Edward Franklin Laine, Sr. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Joan Elizabeth Rawlings; a brother, Edward F. Laine, Jr. (Bubba); and her husband of 63 years, Charlie Clarence Rawlings. She is survived by her daughter, Cynthia R. Cline (Hugh); son, Charles E. Rawlings (Frannie); son, Raymond G. Rawlings (Helen); as well as seven grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. She was a wonderful wife and mother who embraced the adventures of living in Brazil, France, Lebanon and Holland during her husband’s career. After retirement they settled in Prince George where she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, drawing and painting, fishing, and being “GrandMary” to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home on September 25, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. The family will receive friends after the service at the Rawlings’ home, 431 Sandhurst Dr, S. Prince George, VA.
