Mary Clair Crowder Roper, 88, passed away July 11, 2015. She was born March 7, 1927 in Petersburg, Va., the daughter of the late Berkeley Joseph and Erma Clair Crowder. Mary Clair was preceded in death by her husband LeRoy Bartlett Roper and her brother, Joseph A. Crowder. She is survived by her children; Clair Eades (Mike), Gay Diz (Rick), Roy Roper (Adair) and Phil Roper (Cathy); eight grandchildren, Richard Diz, Tim Eades, Michael Diz, David Diz, Joe Eades, Preston Roper, Benjamin Roper, and Scott Roper; and three great grandchildren. Mary Clair graduated from Richmond Professional Institute with a degree in Art. She always loved painting and became a very talented artist. She loved to travel and especially enjoyed the time she spent at the lake and the beach. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. To those who loved her, she was affectionately known as “Oma”. She was a member of Christ and Grace Episcopal Church, Petersburg, Va. A memorial service will be held Wednesday, July 22, 2015 at 11 a. m at Christ and Grace Episcopal Church in Petersburg, Va.
