Mary Rosenstock

Mary B. Rosenstock, 93, of Petersburg, died Wednesday, December 17, 2008. She was a native of Richmond and the daughter of the late John L. and Lorena Moore Bowles. She was predeceased by her husbands Raleigh C. Powell, Jr. who was killed in action in Germany during World War II and James Arthur Rosenstock, Sr. She was a director of special education in Petersburg from 1962-1971, a childrenâ??s services social worker in Petersburg from 1944-1962, a member of Christ & Grace Episcopal Church, and a board member for the Petersburg Home For Ladies for over 12 years. She is survived by her daughter, Nancy Powell Mason of Lexington, VA, her son, Dr. Raleigh C. Powell, III of Richmond; two grandchildren, Elizabeth M. Horsley and husband, John Shelton Horsley of Richmond and Raleigh M. Mason and wife, Chin Valesquez Mason of Goshen, VA; two step sons, James A. Rosenstock, Jr. of Petersburg and John Kemp Rosenstock of Richmond; and four grandchildren. A memorial service will be conducted 1:00 pm Friday, December 19, 2008 at Christ & Grace Episcopal Church.
