Mary Joyner Thornhill

Mary Joyner Thornhill, 85, a lifelong resident of Matoaca, VA, died Thursday, February 2, 2017. She was preceded in death by her parents, Vivian Clarence Joyner, Sr. and Mary Susie Bowman Joyner; husband, Robert Gene Thornhill; and brother, Melvin Joyner. Mrs. Thornhill was a longtime member of Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church. She is survived by her daughters, Nancy Thornhill Pizzullo and husband, Alfred, and Peggy Thornhill Ewing; grandchildren, Nonnie M. Bowles, Mary T. Johnston, Lesley A. Harvey, Gary S. Peterson, Jr., and Kenneth M. Varga, Jr., 15 great-grandchildren; siblings, Marie Dabney, Barbara Pohlig, Clarence Joyner, Jr., Wilbur Joyner, and Ernest Joyner, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Monday, February 6, 2017 at Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church followed by interment at East Matoaca Cemetery. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the funeral service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Arthritis Foundation, P.O.
