Early in the morning of September 8, 2010, Mary A. Walton inherited the eternal reward for her faithfulness in Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. Born on July 24, 1941 in Selma, Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Rev. Herbert and Kathleen Sublett. In 1957 she married her first and only love, David Walton and they enjoyed a 53 year union. She was employed as an Inventory Control Clerk for Hercules, Inc., retiring after 20 years of service. She was a great woman of faith who possessed many gifts of the Holy Spirit. At the South Hopewell Church of God, she served the Lord as the Childrenâ??s Ministry Coordinator, Pianist for the Precious Gems Nursing Home ministry and in many other capacities. In addition to her husband, also left to cherish her memory are her daughter and son-in-law, Yuvonne and the Rev. Andy Paul of Prince George, VA. Her son and his wife, the Rev. Dr. David Walton and Teresa Walton, of Fort Lauderdale, FL. Her grandchildren, Air Force Captain Daphne Brewton and her husband Jerry, Mr. John Andrew Paul, Jr. and his wife, Lisa; Mrs. Abigail Harper and her husband, Peter; Mr. Seth Walton; Navy Seaman Ethan Walton; and the Masters Joseph and Anthony Paul; her great-grandchildren, Aubrey and Jodie Paul. She is also survived by her siblings, Mrs. Loretta Boggs and her husband, Donald; Mr. Raymond Sublett and his wife, Janet; and Ms. Wynona (Nonie) Sublett Findley and her husband, Kevin. Numerous other aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and family members, friends and loved ones survive her. A gathering of friends and family will be held at the South Hopewell Church of God, 2300 Bluefield Street, Hopewell, VA. on Thursday from 7-8:30 PM. A funeral service will be held Friday, September 10, 2010 at 10:00 AM in the Church with Rev. Thurman Collier, officiating. Interment will be in Southlawn Memorial Park.
