Mary Ann Perkins Major, 86, of Petersburg, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 15, 2012 after a brief illness. She was preceded in death by her parents, John T. and Mary S. Avery; her six siblings; her husbands, T. D. Perkins, Jr. and Caspar Major; two sons, Mark and Steven Perkins; and son-in-law, Dr. James L. Ruffa. Mary Ann was a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother. She is survived by three sons, Thomas D. Perkins, III and wife, Ann of Virginia Beach, Michael W. Perkins and wife, Vanessa of West Lake, OH, and David P. Perkins and wife, Carolyn of Grayslake, IL; two daughters, Kathryn A. Thompson of Lansdale, PA and Linda P. Ruffa of Colonial Heights; twelve grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. Mary Ann was a devoted Catholic and a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. She devoted her life to her family and friends. She enjoyed her bridge clubs, cross stitching, cooking and baking, and was a member of the Red Hat Society. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, December 20th at St. Joseph Catholic Church with The Reverend Father Brian Capuano, Celebrant. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Petersburg Chapel of J. T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home.
