Mary Ellen Anderson, of Colonial Heights, Virginia, went to sleep with her ancestors on May 10, 2022. Born and raised in Ettrick, Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Milton L. Pulley and Mary Eloise Pulley. Mary Ellen is survived by her husband of 23 years, Jeffrey H. Anderson; son, David C. Swift; brother, Milton L. Pulley, Jr., as well as several nephews. She was a graduate of Richard Bland College. She was a devoted mother and wife. Being a declared Anglophile, Mary Ellen loved to travel to England to study and collect all things English. Mary Ellen was the founder of the Ettrick Historical Society and had a great pride in her community. She was instrumental in hosting Ettrick Historical Society's Burns Night suppers and the Ettrick-Matoaca Scottish Festivals. Mary Ellen had a great love for history, especially the Victorian period. She was actively involved with re-enacting and living history for many years. Mary Ellen was also an active supporter of the local police departments. A memorial service for Mary Ellen will be held on Friday, May 20, 2022 at 4:00 p.m. at the J. T. Morriss & Son - Petersburg Chapel with Pastor Steve Lalk officiating. Clan Haggis will sing three songs that Mary Ellen enjoyed hearing. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Ettrick-Matoaca Volunteer Rescue Squad. Condolences may be registered at
