Maryland H Blanchard

Maryland Horner Blanchard, 89, of Hopewell, VA, passed away on Thursday, April 27, 2023, at her home. She was a life-long resident of Hopewell.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles Horner and Pat Wray Sherrick; her husband, Bill Blanchard; her granddaughter, Lindsey Blanchard; her great-granddaughter, Haley Messner; and her siblings, Geraldine, Bryant, Jo-Ann Blowe, Charles A. Horner Jr., Clarence Horner, and Paul Horner.

She was a faithful member of Family of God Church, Chester, VA, and she will be greatly missed by family, friends, and neighbors alike. She loved to bake for others, loved traveling the country with her late husband, and loved listening to country music. Her family gives special thanks to Marsha Carr, of Hopewell, for her support and care during Mrs. Blanchard's time of illness, as well as Bon Secours Hospice for all their excellent service.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Mickey and Susan Blanchard; her grandaughter and grandson-in-law, Lauren B. and Morgan Messner; her great-grandson, Bryce; her great-granddaughter Brinley; her sister, Inez Starke; her sister-in-law, Edith Horner; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be conducted on Monday, May 1, 2023, at Appomattox Cemetery in Hopewell, by Rev. Tom Ratliff and Rev. Stephen Cobb. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for contributions to the Community Hospice House on 1133 Old Bon Air Rd, N. Chesterfield, VA 23235.
