Matthew Allen “Big Mac” Cousins, Jr., 86, of Dinwiddie, passed away Monday, January 11, 2016. Born in Amelia, VA, he was the son of the late Matthew Allen and Ruth Vaiden Cousins. Mr. Cousins quit school at a young age to help provide for his family, and remained a hard worker for the rest of his life. He was a heavy equipment operator for many years and went on to be a truck driver for the remainder of his career. He was a longtime member of Bott Memorial Presbyterian Church in DeWitt. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Roy Cousins, and two sisters, Evelyn Orr and Donna Dillard. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Elizabeth M. Cousins; their children, Linda Jones (Major), Carolyn Mitchell (Thomas Staples), Matthew Allen Cousins, III (Sharon), Charles “Chuck” Cousins (Lin), and Wesley Cousins (Teresa); grandchildren, Cathy, Mike, Allen, Courtney, Angela, Lisa, Lisa, Charles, and Danielle, and 13 great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m.. Friday, January 15, at the Dinwiddie Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Southlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
