Matthew Dale Ellis

Matthew Dale Ellis (aka "Cool Matt"), 50, of Hopewell, VA., passed away, Sunday December 16, 2018. He is preceded in death by his father, Larry Dale Ellis. He is survived by his mother Gwendolyn Ellis; two sisters, Angela Crouse and Carla McCall; three brothers, Lawrence Melton, Mark Ellis, and Britton Ellis; numerous nieces and nephews, extended family, and many friends. Matthew graduated from Hopewell High School, where he was an avid wrestler. Matt was a talented artist, often painting pictures for his friends and family. He also loved golf, playing poker, and the best football team, the Dallas Cowboys. He was an adventurous spirit, who lived in areas such as Orlando and Las Vegas during his life. Most recently, Matt worked at Howletts Restaurant & Tavern in Chester. Matt was a dear friend to many, always the life of the party, with a unique sense of humor and overall good nature that will always be remembered. A memorial service will be held, 6:00 p.m., December 20, 2018 at J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home & Crematory Hopewell Chapel, 820 W. Broadway Ave. Hopewell, VA 23860.
