Mattie Traylor

Mrs. Mattie Shelton Traylor, 98, of Petersburg went to be with the lord on March 9, 2007. She was the daughter of the late Richard M. and Lila Whitaker Shelton. She was born January 7, 1909 in Bowling Green, VA, but had lived in Petersburg most of her life. Mrs. Traylor was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband Charles N. Traylor and son Horace L. Traylor. Surviving are one son Charles M. Traylor; two grandsons Wayne Traylor and wife Jennelle, and Jamie Owen and wife Julie; granddaughter Kathy Brown and husband Bruce; three great-granddaughters Cartlin D. and Kelsey M. Traylor and Jamie Marie Warren; one sister Lucille Lee; and many nieces, nephews and daughter-in-law Freeda Nordman. The family will receive friends Sunday, March 11th from 3 to 4:30 PM at J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Petersburg Chapel. A graveside service will be conducted by Rev. Jerry Parker on Monday at 2 PM at Blandford Cemetery.
