Maude Barker Wells

Maude Barker Wells, 93, of Dinwiddie County, passed away on August 8, 2013 at the Colonial Heights Health Care Center. She was born March 6, 1920 to the late William and Ethel Barker; and was also preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Alfred Wells, Sr. Mrs. Wells is survived by her son, Joseph A. Wells, Jr. “Joe Pete” and wife, Sandra of Dinwiddie; two granddaughters, Kimberly W. Hornsby and husband, Mike of Colonial Heights, and Alicia F. Hedges and husband, Brian of Raleigh, N.C.; seven great-grandchildren; a brother, Samual Barker of Dunnsville; a sister-in-law, Doris Elmore and husband, Johnny of Dinwiddie; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. She was a member of Kenwood United Methodist Church and a Dupont retiree. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 13, 2013 at the Petersburg Chapel of J. T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home & Cremation Service with The Reverend Mary Dadisman officiating. Interment will follow at Southlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday, August 12, 2013 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to a memorial fund in her name at Kenwood United Methodist Church, 25200 Ritchie Ave., N. Dinwiddie, VA 23803.
