Maurice Wesley “Monty” Belcher, 75, of Dinwiddie County, passed away Wednesday, August 13, 2014 at his residence. Born and raised in Petersburg (Battersea), he was the son of the late Robert Wesley and Bessie Lavenstein Belcher. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Robert “Bookie” Belcher and a sister, Rita Belcher Fowler. Monty was a U. S. Navy veteran, a former employee of Brown & Williamson Tobacco Company, and a retired employee of Honeywell. He is survived by his children, Maurice “Wesley” Belcher, Jr. of Arlington, VA, Stephanie Belcher Maximini and husband, Gary, of Dinwiddie, and Steven Scott Belcher and wife, Marcia, of Prince George; grandchildren, Brooke, Justis and Ethan; great-grandchild, Aniah; brother, Larry Belcher, sister, Donna Belcher; his former wife, Peggy Dean Bowman Belcher; and numerous nieces and nephews. Our Daddy’s favorite past times included playing the piano and organ, shooting pool, enjoying a perfectly prepared steak and a nice cold beer. A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, August 16, at the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home & Cremation Service. Interment will follow at Blandford Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Crater Community Hospice, 3916 S.
