Maurry Ellwood Long, age 84, of Hopewell, VA, died on Saturday, April 11, 2009. He was born in Augusta, GA, the son of the late Maurry L. and Katherine Parish Long. Mr. Long was a veteran of the USMC and served in the Pacific during WWII. He was also a recipient of the Purple Heart and a member of the Second Marine Division Association. Mr. Long was retired from Lucent Technologies after 33 years of service. He is survived by his loving wife, Joan T. Long of Hopewell; daughter, Natalie L. Renn and husband, Marshall; grandchildren, Kyle Mayo and Dara Shultz and husband, Tyler, all of Prince George; brothers, George R. Long and wife, Margaret, and Leroy R. Long; sister, Philomenia McCardell and husband, Phillip; niece, Susan L. Hobbs; and nephew, Mark K. Hobbs, all of Baltimore, MD. The family will receive friends at the J. T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home of Hopewell, VA, on Monday, April 13, 2009 from 6 to 8 p.m. An additional visitation will be held in Dundalk, MD, at the Duda-Ruck Funeral Home on Tuesday, April 14, 2009 from 3 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will follow there in the funeral home on Wednesday, April 15, 2009 at 11 a.m., with interment following in the Gardens of Faith Cemetery, Baltimore, MD.
