Maxine Davis Collins, of Hopewell, born October 30, 1929 in Pineville, Kentucky, passed into the hands of God on Saturday, July 10, 2010. She was the widow of John William Collins. Grieving her loss are her daughters and sons-in-law Linda Janosik (Billy) and Jeannine Miller (John). Also, her grandsons William Janosik (Sheri), Chad Miller (Stephanie) and Justin Miller, and her great-grandsons, Joshua Aiken, twins Matthew and Daniel Janosik and great-granddaughter Keelie Miller. Maxine was always proud of her children and also took much pleasure in being the oldest of 16 children born to Lloyd and Clara Mae Hurst Davis. Siblings are - Helen Robbins (deceased), Betty Thore (deceased), Joe Davis, Juanita Collins (deceased), James Davis (Dora), Myrtle Robertson (Eddie), Sadie McGeorge (Marvin), Mary Hoskins, Joyce Reynolds, (Charles), Carolyn Browning (Ronnie), Kay Hoskins (Jimmy), Lester Davis (Veta), and Lloyd Davis, Jr. (Patsy). Two babies died in infancy. She is also survived by 32 nieces and 11 nephews.
Services will be held 11:00AM on Wednesday July 14, 2010 at the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morriss and son Funeral Home and Cremation Service, with a visitation to be held one hour prior to service. Officiating will be Reverend Jeff Butler of Woodlawn Presbyterian Church, interment to follow Appomattox Cemetery.
The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, nursing assistants and everyone at John Randolph Medical Center who took such good care of our mother these last weeks.
