Maynard Alvin Williams

Maynard Alvin Williams died peacefully, May 20th, 2017 at St Francis Medical Center at the age of 77. Maynard was born Februrary 27th, 1940 in Dewitt, VA to the late John and Alice Williams; and was also preceded in death by his brother, Thomas “Snooks” Williams. Mr. Williams has remained in the McKenney area his entire life. A wise entrepreneur, Maynard built a successful business, MA Williams Truck Repair, celebrating 50 years in McKenney. He remained a towering figure of integrity, fairness, and honesty for his customers/friends for five decades, rescuing many of us from our mechanical failures and fender benders. Always a “hot-rodder” at heart, with the help of his family, Maynard completed his last project recently, bringing his orange 1965 Econoline Pickup back to life, attracting admiring glances at a recent car show. Maynard is survived by his devoted wife of 54 years, Pearl; daughters and their husbands, Donna and Denny King and Brenda and Alan Paige; and his beloved grandchildren, Dane King and his wife, Lindsay, Heather Paige and her fiancé, Tyler Tucker, Jacob Paige, and Haley King; his aunt, Margaret Lewis; and many cousins in the community. The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, May 22, 2017 at the Dinwiddie Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. A celebration of Maynard’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 23, 2017 at Rocky Run United Methodist Church Cemetery.
