Melody Dianna Keen

Melody Dianna Keen, of Dinwiddie County, Virginia, died April 7, 2023. Melody was born September 17, 1957, in Savannah, Georgia, and was the daughter of the late Virginia B. Hughes, of Petersburg, Virginia. Melody is survived by her loving and supportive husband of twenty-one years, Michael Joseph Keen; his son, Hunter; her sisters, Ginny R. Cerveny (Rob) and Rachael A. Hughes; brother, Joshua B. Hughes; her nieces and nephews, Stephanie, Yvonne, Rebecca, and Jeremy, along with their children and grandchildren; and stepfather, Robert E. Hughes.

Melody was a retired nurse who was employed at Central State Hospital and state prisons. She was an avid and devoted animal lover who, with Michael, housed many dogs and cats and spent many hours feeding and rescuing strays. She was the faithful "auntie" to Ginny's children and a joy when she visited Rachael and Joshua. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the SPCA of Petersburg and Colonial Heights, 104A Pickwick Ave., Colonial Heights, VA 23834. Services will be private.
