Melvin Bradford Carraway

Melvin Bradford Carraway, 75, of Hopewell, passed away on Sunday, April 17, 2016. He was preceded in death by his parents, James Hobson Carraway and Louise Wills Lengyel; and an infant son, Michael David Carraway. Brad retired from the Westrock Hopewell Mill after 40 years of service and was a member of the Hopewell Optimist Club. He was also an avid reader and spent many hours at the local library. He is survived by his wife, Brenda P. Carraway; children, Kevin Carraway and wife, Susan, Chris Carraway and wife, Katie, and Kelli Terven and husband, Patrick; seven grandchildren, Andrew, Gavin, Caitlin, Nyla, and Henry Carraway, and Bailee and Kylee Terven; sister, Ellen Lewis and husband, Gary; aunt Edith Carraway; and other loving extended family. A funeral service will be held at the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home on Thursday, April 21, 2016 at 11:00 AM. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, April 20, 2016 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Hopewell Optimist Club, P.O. Box 1194, Hopewell, VA 23860.
