Melvin Joseph Creamer Jr

Melvin Joseph Creamer, Jr., 86, of Hopewell, passed away from natural causes on Tuesday, April 6, 2021 at his home surrounded by his family. Born in Richmond, Virginia, he was the son of the late Melvin Joseph Creamer, Sr. and Helen Mahoney Creamer. He was preceded in death by his son, David Patrick Creamer; and siblings, Jean Creamer Kelleher and Ann Creamer Cox. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Claudine Morris Creamer; daughter, Janice Creamer (Charlie); son, Michael Creamer (Randy); sister Patsy Creamer Hoehing; and grandchildren, Jayden, Jarrett and Joey. Melvin was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army in 1963 before being employed by the Virginia ABC board, retiring after many years of service. He was a life-long member of St. James Catholic Church having attended elementary school there before graduating from St. Joseph’s in Petersburg. In retirement Melvin began woodworking and crafted hundreds of items for family and friends including porch swings, holiday decorations and furniture. A graveside service will be held at Appomattox Cemetery, 703 N. 21st Avenue, in Hopewell on Monday, April 12, 2021 at 2:00pm.
