GRAVITTE, Melvin Thomas; III (Tom) of Dinwiddie, Virginia. He was born in Carson, Virginia went to be with the lord on May 3, 2015. He was preceded in death by his father, Melvin Thomas Gravitte; II and his mother, Hattie Sparks Gravitte. He is survived by his wife, Linda Gravitte; two children Kevin Kirsh and Lisa Coleman (Frankie); his mother in law Mary Cox; and a very special Aunt Lois Mraz; five grandchildren, Amie, Lauren, Kahner, Mackenzie and Ryan and many other loving family and friends.He was also a music teacher for Matoaca High School. Tom was owner and operator of M. T. Gravitte & Sons Vacuum Cleaner Sales and Service in Petersburg, VA. He was a founder of the Gospel Music Group Arise, and a member of the Colonial Heights Sportsman Club. His family will receive friends 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at J. T. Morris Funeral Home at 3050 West Hundred Road. A funeral ceremony will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Colonial Heights Baptist Church where he was a long time active member. A graveside service will be held after the ceremony at Central Baptist Church 1510 Courthouse Road, Richmond, VA. The family would like to invite you to a reception after graveside at the Colonial Heights Baptist Church reception hall. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Colonial Heights Baptist Church Building Fund, 17201 Jefferson Davis Highway, Colonial Heights, VA 23834.
