Melvin Saunders

Melvin Gray Saunders, 84, of Hopewell died Thursday, November 18, 2010. He was born in Deal, Virginia . He served in the US Coast Guard during WW II, a member of Dupont Lodge #289 AF & AM, member of the Loyal Order of Moose # 1472 and was the former owner/operator of Appomattox Dry Cleaners in Hopewell. Mr. Saunders was preceded in death by his parents, Bryant Jennings and Pearlie Gray Saunders. Surviving are his wife Loraine Wood Saunders of Hopewell, a daughter Nancy S. Sinclair and husband C.B,. a son, Ted G. Saunders and wife Susie all of Hopewell, a grandchild, Emily Saunders Irby and husband Kevin, two great grandchildren, Kolby and Colton Irby all of Triplett, Virginia. A funeral service will be held Saturday, November 20, 2010 at 11:00 AM in the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Wayne Pennington, pastor of The Church of the Brethen, officiating. . The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in Southlawn Memorial Park, Prince George, VA.
