Melvin Francis Wilson

Melvin “Mel” Francis Wilson, age 70, of Chesterfield, VA, passed away March 11, 2019. He was preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Elizabeth Wilson. He is survived by his sister, Helen W. Roach (Joe); four nephews, Jason Roach (Kathy), William Roach (Vanessa), Tyler Roach, and Wesley Roach (Cecilia); three great-nieces, Emily Roach, Sarah Roach, and Leah Roach; three great-nephews, Hunter Butterworth, Nolan Roach, and Wesley Roach; his special longtime friend, Betty, as well as other relatives and many friends. Mel was a 1968 graduate of Thomas Dale High School. He served in the U.S. Army for 6 years as an M.P., and was discharged with the rank Specialist 4. He retired from E.I. DuPont after 41 years of service. Mel loved being outside, gardening, tending to his animals, hunting and spending time at the river. The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, March 14, 2019 at the Chester Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. A graveside funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday at Second Branch Baptist Church Cemetery. The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, contributions be made in his memory to the Second Branch Baptist Church Building Fund, 12217 Second Branch Road, Chesterfield, VA 23838.
