Mertie Florence Denson Ashworth, 97, of Hopewell, died Friday, February 23, 2007 in Colonial Heights Convalescent Center. Mrs. Ashworth was a member of Abundant Life Pentecostal Holiness Church in Prince George County, was a former member of Hopewell Pentecostal Holiness Church and a volunteer for many years with Meals on Wheels. She was preceded in death by her parents, Vernon and Mudie Morris Denson, her husband Charlie L. Ashworth, a daughter, Linda E. Brooks and a son, David L. Ashworth. Mrs. Ashworth is survived by two daughters, Jeanne Greb Phibbs, Irene Johnson, three sons, Beauford C. Ashworth, Thomas V. Ashworth and Jerry L. Ashworth, 15 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren, a brother, Richard Denson and a sister-in-law, Fannie Hanchey. A funeral service will be held Wednesday, February 28, 2007 at 11:00 AM in Abundant Life Pentecostal Holiness Church in Prince George. The family will receive friends at the church, one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in Bermuda Memorial Park, Chesterfield County. Memorial contributions may be made to the family or the Building Fund, Abundant Life Pentecostal Holiness Church, 6500 Middle Road, Prince George, Virginia, 23875.
