MERVIN JACKSON PRICE, 75, of Richmond went to be with the Lord on Saturday, October 15, 2005, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born December 16, 1929, he was the son of the late Cleveland D. Price and Rebecca Pittman Price.
Mervin was the founder and retired president of Southside Tank Service, Inc., established in the early 1970?s. He enjoyed the friendship and respect of his business associates and peers. He had a passion for life which included family, racing, travel, camping, boating, and flying. He was a lifetime member and supporter of New Lebanon Christian Church in Elberon, Virginia. He enjoyed spending retirement time at home in Richmond and in Virginia Beach.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of nearly 48 years, Jean Fowler Price; his children and their spouses, Mervin J. Price, Jr. and Donna and Temple Price Pearce and Tommy; and five grandchildren, Christopher T. Pearce, Kimberly A. Pearce, Timothy S. Pearce, Dallas N. Price, and Brett C. Price. Mervin was preceded in death by two sisters, Ruth Price and Sarah P. Rice.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 19, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. in the Purviance Funeral Home Chapel, Wakefield, Virginia. Interment will follow in Wakefield Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday evening, October 18, from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to New Lebanon Christian Church, P.O.
