Michael Jefferson Andrews, 80, of Chester, VA, lost his battle with Lewy Body Dementia on December 27, 2024. Born and raised in Petersburg VA, he was the son of the late Ira Lee Andrews, Jr. and Alice Jefferson Andrews. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Vickie Lynn Andrews; daughter, Dawn M. Andrews, of Hopewell; grandchildren, Channing Ivey, of Richmond, Seth John Archer, of Hopewell, and Hannah-Faith Archer, of Hopewell; a brother, Ronald N. Andrews and wife, Blanche, of Colonial Heights; a sister-in-law, Anne Andrews, of Ashland; a brother-in-law, Tom Godsey and wife, Becky; and nephew, Hunter, of Chester; a mother-in-law, Laura Godsey, of Chester; as well as, several nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to his parents; Michael was preceded in death by his brother, Roy D. Andrews; and brother, Ira Lee Andrews III.
Michael served in the Army National Guard and wore multiple career hats before retiring in 1993, from DGSC as a Hazardous Materials Handler. He then worked part time for 16 years for Walmart Lawn and Garden Center. Michael had a passion for fast cars from a young age that continued through his love of NASCAR and being an avid Bill Elliott fan. Along with the Dallas Cowboys, Michael considered yard work, like cutting grass and raking leaves, a hobby. Michael was known to have a story to tell but enjoyed listening just as much. Michael was a loving and devoted husband who was not seen alone very often, where you saw Mike, you saw Vickie. When the last few years become harder to manage alone, Michael always had the love of his life by his side, forever a team.
